Multilayered technology utilizes AI, humans,
and geofencing to get it right the first time
LAS VEGAS, February 11, 2025 – Better Trucks, a leading last-mile delivery carrier, today announced the launch of Checkpoint, its proprietary customer address validation tool designed to dramatically improve last-mile delivery accuracy. The unveiling took place at Manifest Vegas, the world’s largest supply chain and logistics technology event.
One of the greatest challenges in last-mile delivery is misdelivered packages. With approximately 60 million parcels delivered daily in the U.S., even a small percentage of address errors leads to nearly 3 million misdeliveries daily. These errors contribute to increased costs, operational inefficiencies, and poor customer experiences.
E-commerce retailers often prioritize seamless checkout experiences to reduce cart abandonment, sometimes at the expense of address validation at the point of purchase. As a result, the responsibility to correct errors falls on carriers, increasing costs and reducing delivery efficiency. Checkpoint addresses this challenge by creating a proactive partnership between Better Trucks and shippers, using AI, human intelligence, and real-time customer interaction to ensure accurate deliveries.
“The battle against bad addresses is a never-ending war,” said Mike Koleno, Chief Technology Officer at Better Trucks. “We’ve built a proactive tool in Checkpoint to increase our percentage of success, but the list of bad addresses is always lurking. Checkpoint creates a partnership with shippers to ensure accuracy after the purchase process through AI, human intelligence, and positive customer interaction — all to delight customers, reduce rates, and lower costs.”
Checkpoint is a multilayered process that identifies, corrects, and verifies improper addresses through advanced technology and human oversight:
AI-Powered Verification: Better Trucks applies artificial intelligence to validate every address entered by shipping clients, cross-referencing at least three data sources, including Google Address Validation.
Automated Address Correction: When an address is flagged as incorrect, Checkpoint attempts to auto-correct it using available data sources.
Human Intervention: If an address cannot be auto-corrected, the Better Trucks Checkpoint team manually researches and verifies the location.
Customer Interaction (Opt-in Feature): For shippers who opt-in, Checkpoint sends an SMS to the recipient, notifying them of a pending delivery that requires address verification. Recipients can update their address via text and drop a pin on Google Maps for precise location confirmation.
Geofenced Deliveries: The Better Trucks Drive app integrates geofencing technology, ensuring that packages can only be scanned and delivered within a defined radius of the verified address.
Continuous Learning: Once an address is corrected, Checkpoint stores the data for future successful deliveries, reducing recurring issues.
Checkpoint is available to all shippers using Better Trucks, covering a footprint that reaches more than 40% of U.S. households. Additionally, clients have the option to white-label the technology, integrating Checkpoint into their own brand communications with customers.
Checkpoint is the latest innovation from Better Trucks, following the successful launch of Vestigo, the no-code parcel tracking platform that connects shippers, carriers, and third-party platforms for seamless supply chain visibility.
